Mary Jane Bowe Ehrisman, 87, formerly of Racine, WI, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 
LindenGrove in Waukesha, WI.

Mary Jane was born in Waukesha on January 12, 1918, the daughter of the late William J. and
Ella Merten Bowe.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Waukesha, Waukesha High School, Racine 
Kenosha Normal and the the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Mary Jane taught in several one-room 
Waukesha County schools before joining the WAVES where she was stationed at the Fleet Post Office 
in San Francisco during WWII.

Mrs. Ehrisman was known as "Miss Bowe" when she taught second grade in Richland, Washington first 
briefly at Marcus Whitman and then at Spalding, before moving back to Racine where she taught third 
grade at Johnson School from 1955 to 1959. 

On June 28, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waukesha, Mary Jane was united in marriage to 
Albert C. Ehrisman, who preceded her in death March 31, 1997. She was a member of St. Edward’s 
Catholic Church, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was a volunteer for many years at St. Mary’s 
Hospital Auxiliary. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her brother, William (Carolyn) Bowe of Thiensville; sisters, Eleanor Bowe and 
Elizabeth Bowe, both of Waukesha; nieces and nephews, Ellen (Jeff) Ehlers, Patti (Daniel) Frazier, 
Dan (Laurel) Bowe, Michael (Linda) Bowe, Ronni Hinchman Diane (Hugh) Tidwell, Kitti Ehrisman; great 
nieces and great nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 11 a.m until the noon funeral Mass on Friday, 
May 6, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 818 N. East Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Michael F. Michalski 
will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A memorial Mass at St. Edward’s 
Catholic Church in Racine will be arranged. Memorials to St. Edward’s Catholic Church or to the 
LindenGrove, 425 N. University Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188 have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to the entire staff at LindenGrove for their loving and 
compassionate care shown to Mary Jane.
