Oma's Trip ~ 03/08/03 Dateline: Vacaville, CA (Motel6) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More stuff from yesterday/last night that I forgot: Forgot to post yesterday's mileage stats... When one first arrives in "freeway territory" they need to issue flasing neon signs that will sit in your back car window that say: "FREEWAY NOVICE"... or maybe even "FREEWAY IDIOT". I know there hadda be people cursing me... good thing I have Washington plates on my car... at least the locals can come up with that excuse for me. OOPS! Wrong lane... GOT to be in that OTHER lane... like right NOW. There are surely more people in California who have cancer than the rest of the country... Freeway driving gives ya cancer. More about motel rooms: Stayed at Ramada Inn in Tucson a couple of nights ago -- and it was nice, BUT... for the money, I'd rather stay at Motel 6 -- Ramada Inns usually cost more... and the only difference is that R.I. has pictures GLUED to the walls, a microwave, small refer, small safe in the closet, ironing board and iron (didn't use ANY of those), and a cool wooden FRAME for the tv (like I cared)... I mean the TV was still well secured to whatever it sat on... OH, and I forgot to mention the CRACK in the countertop right around the sink in the bathroom... and R.I. DID have cute little shampoo/conditioner that Motel 6 doesn't have... and a shower cap and shoe shine cloth, too! R.I. did NOT have a separate phone line port for the laptop... OH, and got two free drinks at happy hour (only thing available was beer and wine -- I don't like either, so George and Peggy used those). Also got a chit for some kind of "continental breakfast" that I didn't use. And that place last night USED to be a Ramada Inn which is why my friend recommended it -- also, she liked the location much better than the Motel 6 and I can't really speak to that part of it... I slept on TOP of the bed... and Pepper puked on her "side" of the bedspread... hehehe OH and there was a place in the toilet bowl that looked like somebody had dropped a bowling ball in there at one time and I suppose it had been repaired because I don't think it leaked... It was an experience... a LEARNING experience... I've learned that I'm sticking with Motel 6 -- they usually only run around $40/night for a single and you can't really beat that anywhere. Me and my oldest friend -- we tried to figure out how long we've been friends and just decided that neither of us can remember ever NOT knowing the other... taken last night: SOOOO, on to the continuing adventure for today (3/8/03): I wanted to get OUT of L.A. (and the motel room from hell), so I was on the road by 7am.
